A bridal party on the dock at Muskoka Lakes Golf and Country Club, with the lake behind them and the easy, slightly off-duty feeling that only cottage-country weddings really have. Many of the couples I've photographed up here have grown up on these lakes — getting ready at the family cottage, walking down to the dock for portraits, taking the boat to the club for the reception. The setting does a lot of the work; the photographs just need to stay out of its way.
It's a part of the world I love returning to, and one with a real overlap with the Toronto families I now spend most of my time photographing — many of whom keep summer places in Muskoka and have been spending Augusts on these same docks for generations.
