The bride and groom step out of the Appleby College chapel into full sun, just married. The bride is an Appleby alumna, which gives the day a particular shape: she has walked these grounds for years, and the chapel and the school know her in a way no chosen venue ever quite does.

The exit from the church is one of the photographs that says "wedding" like few others. Whatever the trends in wedding photography come and go, this frame, with the doors of the chapel behind the couple and the day still ahead of them, will stay legible decades from now.
