Some of the sweetest images happen between the "official" shots. During this at-home session, snack time transformed into an unexpected photo opportunity when this little one received her apple. The pure bliss on her face as she dove in was so genuine, so completely unselfconscious, that I almost forgot to photograph it through my laughter.
Lifestyle photography works beautifully alongside traditional family portraits. While posed images have their place, these candid moments—a child enjoying a simple apple, completely absorbed in the present—add narrative depth that publications and families alike treasure. They tell the fuller story of childhood: not just how kids look, but how they experience their world.
Snack breaks serve dual purposes during sessions. They give children a moment to recharge and reset their energy, making the entire experience more enjoyable for everyone. Apples are particularly session-friendly—they don't stain teeth like sugary treats, provide sustained energy rather than a sugar spike, and photograph beautifully with their vibrant colors and natural appeal.
